6. Review

The Ismael trilogy by Michael Gerard Bauer from the DTV Verlag is about the development of the protagonist Ismael Leseur From the shy boy to the self-confident, while the one with his friends and the school also mastered other obstacles, especially the love and the bullying and "adventure".

Lack of speech. This word is to be mentioned in these books. No other. Never in my entire life have I heard of this author or series. By a ranch book club at the school I became attentive and I remember exactly: I lay in my bed in the evening and was taken by my mother X times Asked to finally go to sleep because the light was on. The reason: The interesting plot and the fantastic writing style as well as the brilliant characters made sure that I couldn't put the books out of my hands anymore.

Plot

In the first two books it is explicitly about bullying, because Ismael is bullied because of his name by the nasty of the class Barry Bagsley. He is named after the hero of "Moby Dick"-Ishmael. In addition, in the course of the three books the first experiences with love become clear, as Ishmael falls in love with the girl Kelly Faulkner. It is also a question of debate – in all volumes. Scoobie, a newcomer in the first volume establishes a debating club and in all volumes we read how the debates are going and how the team prepares itself. The second volume deals with the music as we get to know a band that plays an important role.

Characters:

Ismael:

At the beginning he is the shy boy who cannot fight against the bastard. Over time he gains self-confidence and learns to defend himself. He liked me very much, because his ambition and his talents fascinated me. The handling of his friends is also commendable, so there is no more to say.

Scoobie:

My favorite character in the series. I thought I'd read about me when I was about Scoobie Because his character traits are very similar to mine. He is the founder of the Debating club and is responsible for the development of Ismael. Barry Bagsley also offers his forehead by not proposing or doing anything else: he is talking. Through the rhetoric, he also shows us that we do not have to resolve everything with insults and brawls. He was a very enlightening figure since he was tolerant, funny (just like everyone else) and teaches how to be a true friend.

Race:

Oh, yes, Orazio, Razza, Big O or how to call it the women's hero. He supports Ishmael in snatching a girl and this trip with him was very funny – he is I think the funniest person in the book. What he also liked about him was that he could admit that he is not stupid, but also has talents. And we all have talents.

Bill Kingsley:

The reaction speed of a snail. The Sci-fi Hero Bill KingleyThrough which we learn that we are not worthless, even if we are overweight. That we can do and leave what we want, no matter what weight class we belong to.

Miss Tarango:

Yes, the teacher. Because she wasn't some teacher. I confess I never had such a funny and understanding, enlightening teacher like Ms. Tarango. She has consistently supported the heroes of the novel and shows that teachers are also people, and we should think about how we deal with them. As she has supported her students, I am not thinking of a teacher.

Writing:

I should also review the writing style? From me if that wasn't enough. Genius. One can fly through the sides and is continuously on the Laugh. Never before have I laughed as much as I did in the Ismael trilogy.

7. Final word

I have not added any reading samples because you have to experience my new favorite series yourself. Believe me: You will not regret it, you will laugh, have fun, as I had. There is nothing else to say 😊
